Did you realize that God stopped His work of creating the heavens and earth to rest on a particular day which He called “holy”? That day is called the Sabbath. Learning about Sabbath history tells us that we’re also to stop our work and rest on the Sabbath like God did.

“‘If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance [physical blessings] of your father Jacob. ” (Isaiah 58:13-14, NIV).

Proper Sabbath observance can include fun activities like going to a park and observing nature, spending more time with family and our church family, going to church and engaging in relaxing activities that help us draw closer to God. And in turn, God promises that we’ll have joy and blessings.
